Hameau de Mouiche is very close to many ski-slopes. Mont d'Olmes is 45  minutes away and has two black runs and several blue. It also has a nursery slope for the not so experienced. Bonascre, which is close to the spa town of Ax Les Thermes, is about an hour and a half away and is much bigger with a telecabine connection from Ax itself. It has several chair lifts and plenty of restaurants and bars. There is also Nordic ski and snowboarding there. Wherever snow falls heavily (in the Pyrenees there is no lack of it) walks wearing snow-shoes can be undertaken offering a new way of enjoying the mountains with no specific technical level required. Andorra is two hours by car and is the highest country in Europe. There are many ski resorts there and it is also a duty free area for alcohol and electrical items.
