The region around
Hameau de Mouiche is rich in history. The area is known as the
Quercorb with Chalabre as its capital and has seen many events
throughout the ages. La Dame Blanche (The White Lady) lived in
Puivert Castle in the 14 century and it was she who ordered the
river draining into the great lake to be re-directed, this flooded
both Mirepoix and Chalabre and the unfortunate lady drowned. Rennes-Le-Chateau is famous for the priest
Sauniere who suddenly came into great riches during the 1800's and
gave splendid parties for the rich and famous. Rumour has it that he
either found evidence linking Mary Magdalene to this area or that he
found Cathar gold. Either way the site is featured in Dan Brown's Da
Vinci Code and the murdered concierge in the Louvre bears the same
name. |
